IAL Emilia Romagna - Bologna The institute was founded in 1990 as an independent vocational qualification institute. Its main activities comprise adult education, vocational qualification and guidance of unemployed people and training of key qualifications for re-integration into the labour market.

The institute offers training facilities for 200 people at the own premises and up to 250 people at temporarily adopted training facilities. The training methods include own pedagogic and didactic methods, especially for integration and motivation, and are constantly being updated. A modular system with integrated ODL modules enables the customers to select their individual qualification scheme.
As one of the first qualification institutes in Austria, BEST has been certified according to the ISO 9001 quality maintenance regulations.

Provision of training contents varies according to the different learning approach of different target groups, e.g. SMEs, woman job returners, long-term unemployed or disadvantadged people, taking into account their various levels of learning speed, motivation and endurance.

BEST has been involved in more than 30 transnational projects in the EU programmes LEONARDO DA VINCI, SOCRATES, HORIZON, EQUAL and the 6th Framework Programme. In more than 20 projects, BEST has acted as project coordinator. Most projects focus on development and/or introduction of new didactic concepts in labour market oriented training and qualification measures.

BEST is registered partner in the European Training Village and collaborating partner in the Austrian Co-ordination Unit for Gender Mainstreaming in the European Social Fund (ESF).
